Travels in Asia

Krabi Airport is located approximately 15 kilometres north of Krabi Town Center and about 28 kilometres from Ao Nang. Tourists arriving at Krabi airport can easily reach their hotels in Ao Nang or Krabi Town by car or bus. However, the remote beaches on the coast can only be accessed by car, and to get to the beaches of Railay, you will need to use a boat. This article will help you choose the optimal transport.

Private Transfer from Krabi Airport to your hotel

I recommend a private transfer for those seeking the quickest and most comfortable way to reach their hotel. This option allows you to book a car that suits your preferences and requirements.

Private transfers are especially beneficial if you

  • are travelling with children,
  • arriving in Krabi at night,
  • staying at a hotel away from Ao Nang and Krabi centre.

The cost of the transfer depends on the size and class of the car, as well as the distance from Krabi airport to your hotel.

The journey from Krabi Airport to your hotel in Ao Nang or Krabi Town will take approximately 30 - 40 minutes.

Shuttle Buses and Vans from Airport to Krabi town and Ao Nang

If you want a more budget-friendly option from Krabi Airport, shuttle buses and minibuses (vans) are available.

Minibuses (vans) and large buses run every hour from 6 am to 9 pm between Krabi Airport and Ao Nang. However, there is no fixed schedule, and buses can leave earlier if there are enough passengers.

There are also minibuses from Krabi Airport to hotels in Klong Muang, Ko Kwang, and Tubkaek.

You can buy a ticket and book a seat on the bus on the 12Go Asia website.

The bus travels along the route, stopping at the bus station in Krabi, near hotels in Krabi Town and Ao Nang. Therefore, the duration of the trip will depend on the number of passengers and stops. The journey takes about 45 - 90 minutes.

A bus or minibus ride costs 160 - 260 baht (approximately 5 - 8$).

Taxis are another option for getting from Krabi Airport to your hotel. Still, they can be unpredictable in terms of price.

Taxi drivers often use various schemes to increase the cost of the trip, so it's essential to agree on a fare before starting your journey.

A taxi ride to Ao Nang typically costs around 600 - 700 THB (approximately $18 - $25), while a trip to Krabi Town costs about 400 - 500 THB (approximately $12 - $15).

Renting a Car in Krabi Airport: Ideal for Explorers

For those planning to visit Krabi's sights or travel to Koh Lanta's island, renting a car is the best option.

You can get a car at the Krabi airport and drive it to your hotel. A rented car gives you the freedom and opportunity to explore the exciting corners of Krabi at your own pace.

If you rent a car in Thailand, to booking hotels with parking facilities is advisable.

How to get from Krabi Airport to a hotel on Railay Peninsula

Important note: Hotels on the Railay Peninsula are not accessible by car or bus.

Boarding a boat to Railay at the beach in Ao Nang.

To get to a hotel on Railay, you need to go to Ao Nang Pier first, then take a boat.

I recommend taking a boat to Railay from Ao Nam Mao Pier:

  • Boarding a boat at this pier is more convenient than on the beach in Ao Nang.
  • The journey by sea will take less time than from the pier in Krabi.

Tip: Leave unnecessary things in Thailand (such as winter clothes or shoes) in a storage room in Bangkok. You don't need to carry extra kilos all over Thailand.
