Koh Lanta is actually made up of two islands:

  1. Koh Lanta Yai is the main tourist island. This is where you'll find all the popular beaches and hotels. When tourists talk about "Koh Lanta," they are usually referring to this island.
  2. Koh Lanta Noi serves as a transit island for tourists. Travelers use Koh Lanta Noi to get from the mainland to their final destination - a hotel on Koh Lanta Yai.

Koh Lanta Noi and Koh Lanta Yai are connected by a bridge, making it easy to travel between the two.

If you're traveling to Koh Lanta by land (by minibus, taxi or rental car), your journey will consist of several stages.

  1. First, you'll need to take the road from Krabi Airport to Hua Hin Koh Lanta Pier.
  2. From there, you'll take a ferry from the mainland to Koh Lanta Noi.
  3. Once you arrive on Koh Lanta Noi, you'll transfer over the bridge to Koh Lanta Yai.
  4. Finally, you'll take the road to your hotel, which is located on the north or west coast of Koh Lanta Yai where all the popular beaches and hotels are located.

If you prefer to travel to Koh Lanta by sea, there are regular ferry services from Krabi, Phi Phi Island, and Phuket to the Saladan Pier on the noth of Koh Lanta Yai.Ferry schedules may vary depending on the time of year, so be sure to check in advance.

Transfers from Krabi to hotel on Koh Lanta at any time of the year and day

If you're looking for a quick and comfortable way to get to your hotel on Lanta Island from Krabi, consider an individual transfer by taxi.

Your driver will meet you at the airport or your hotel, assist with your luggage, and get you to your hotel in about 3 hours.

The travel time will depend on the ferry workload between the mainland and Ko Lanta Noi.

Prices for an individual transfer from Krabi to Koh Lanta start at 2,100 baht per car (~$75), depending on the car's size and class.

Be aware that some transfers may offer lower prices, but only take you to Hua Hin Koh Lanta Pier, meaning you'll need to take a ferry and a taxi to get to your hotel. To avoid any hassle, it's better to book a transfer directly to your hotel on Koh Lanta.

Here are the benefits of taking a transfer:

  • Comfortable - you can select a car that fits your needs and your baggage size.
  • Available at any time of the day (except for night time when there is no ferry service to Koh Lanta).

In my opinion, the only drawback to taking a private transfer is the price, especially if you're traveling alone or as a couple. However, if you value convenience and comfort, private transfer may be worth the cost.
